2024 Summer Skills

Summer Skills Sessions

We are having skills sessions at Skyview Middle School Gym A  6pm - 7:30 on June 17, June 24, July 8, July 15 & July 22.

Coach Megan Diediker will be onsite working with girls to hone their skills in preparation for next season.   There will be skill drills, some open shooting & some smaller competitions, like 3 on 3.

OAA Girls Basketball is sponsoring the Gym time, so this opportunity is FREE of charge.

Signed Waiver is required for participation!  Please download the waiver sign it on BOTH pages.

Your daughter will NOT be able to participate without the signed waiver!  Our preference is that you email them directly to me, but you can bring them the first time your daughter participates.

Girls Recreational Basketball

Your athlete should be registered based on the grade she is in when registering.  The three leagues are:

  • 3rd and 4th grade
  • 5th and 6th grade
  • 7th and 8th grade

The goal of the program is to provide an enjoyable, positive environment in which participants learn the fundamentals of basketball. Success should be measured by the improvements in each player's skills and knowledge of basketball. OAA teams compete with surrounding communities.

Typically, teams practice for one 75 minute session per week and play one game per week. Practices are on weeknights and typically begin in mid-November. Games are on Saturday mornings and afternoons and typically start in early December and continue into late February or early March. Practice time/locations will be set after the school district allocates gym times.

Although every effort is made to accommodate the desires of every registrant, the director has the final say in rosters. We will not be making any promises as to how this process will go, but will be as fair as possible. The only thing promised is that if you coach your child is on your team.

Tournament Information

All leagues will participate in a post season tournament. More information to come when available.

Assembling Teams

When registering, a player can express a preference for a friend and/or a coach. Preferences will be satisfied in the following order:

  • Satisfy family relationships.
  • Satisfy coach's preference for one player.
  • Satisfy player preferences in order by registration date and time.
  • Assign players based on a common unsatisfied preference.
  • Assign players based on school.
  • Assign any remaining players where ever the player fits.

Ideally all preferences could be satisfied. Unfortunately, this is may be impossible due to constraints such as balancing the total number of players on each team.

Registering early can significantly contribute to having preferences satisfied. Please do not assume teams stay together.

REFUND POLICY

All refunds are subject to a $10 processing fee.  Refunds, as well as the amount of the refund are left to the discretion of the league director. Refunds may take up to 10 business days to process.
