DESCRIPTION

OAA T-ball is for boys and girls in Pre-K and Kindergarten. This is an introductory program to Baseball/Softball which focuses on basic skill development, fundamentals and having fun. Players will get an opportunity to practice fundamentals as well as experience/learn game-like situations.

Kids must be 5 years old by Sept. 1 of the current year.

First year kids will focus on hitting the ball off of the tee as well as fielding different positions.

Second year kids will still focus on hitting off the tee in addition to introducing underhand pitches from the coach.

Games are Thursdays at 6:15 or 6:30pm on various fields in Oakdale.

EQUIPMENT

  • Registration includes a ball cap, jersey shirt and small backpack
  • Parents/Guardians must provide helmets and gloves for their players.
  • Team bats will be provided by the league for each team. You can bring your own bat as well.
  • Metal Cleats are NOT Allowed

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Each team will need volunteers this season.  We have 2 different positions to sign up for:  Head coach or assistant coach. Each team is not required to have all positions filled, however, this is always beneficial for a successful season.  Keeping the team numbers low is helpful for the kids to better learn the sport and provide more play time per player.  Volunteers will be placed on the team of their registered player.

All Volunteers will need to go thru concussion training as well as abuse training and first aid training. Training in total takes no more than about 1-1/2 and is online. OAA general budget will pay for the online training for the first 2 coaches. Any additional coaches training will come out of the Tball budget.

There is also an in person training that is paid for by OAA for all coaches for all sports. Date for that has yet to be determined but most likely sometime towards the end of April. This just gives everyone a baseline for where we expect coaches to be.

Head Coach:

Lead team practices. Teach players the basics for the sport of Tball.  Set up batting orders and field positions to rotate all players evenly.  Handle team equipment for the season.  Communicate with your team. Assign snack days for games with the parents.   Edit team page if needed.

Assistant Coach:

Assist the head coach with practices and games.   Communicate with your team.  Edit team page if needed.

Tball Co-Director:

Looking for someone to help be a director for Tball as with this being my 3rd year as Tball director and my child moving up to the next level I would like to get someone to eventually take over. Ideally looking for someone that can do it for a couple seasons. You would have to be voted in by the OAA board of directors if you want to help. Any questions please email me at tball@oaaonline.com

A meeting will be held prior to the first practice with the Tball Director. This meeting will include signing up for a practice day/time/field, getting team equipment and uniforms(If available at that time), answer any questions and give an overview for the Tball season.

If you have not volunteered during the registration process but wish to do so now, please email the director using the link provided.

Practices & Games

The official start date for practices is based on the weather and field status at that time.  Updates are provided through email to keep players informed.
