The boys basketball program is a recreational league for players in 3rd through 8th grade. 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders play in single grade leagues, whereas the 7th and 8th graders combine to form one league. The goal of the program is to provide an enjoyable, positive environment in which participants learn the fundamentals of basketball. Success should be measured by the improvements in each player's skills and knowledge of basketball. OAA teams compete with surrounding communities. The league is administered by Maplewood.
Typically, teams practice for one 75 minute session per week and play one game per week. Practices are on weeknights and typically begin in mid-November. Games are on Saturday mornings and afternoons and typically start in early December and continue into late February or early March. Practice time/locations will be set after the school district allocates gym times.
