  • $100 - February 10th thru March 22nd

Minors Baseball

Minors is a recreational baseball league for players in 4th or 5th grade during the registration period. The goal of the program is to provide a positive environment in which participants enjoy playing baseball and continue to improve skills. Pitching and base stealing are added at this level. An umpire calls balls and strikes.

Typically, teams practice once per week and play one game per week. Weekly games are played on Tuesday evening. Games will start the second or third week of May and will end with a post season tournament during the July 25-27 weekend. Practices typically begin in late April after the city determines the fields are suitable. Due to the limited number of fields, practices may be on Sunday through Thursday nights. Practice time/locations will be set after coordinating with coaches.

Players are generally assigned to teams in the following manner:

  • Satisfy family relationships.
  • Satisfy coach's preference for one player.
  • Satisfy player preferences in order by registration date and time.
  • Assign players based on any common unsatisfied preferences.
  • Assign players based on school and grade.
  • Assign players based on school.
  • Assign any remaining players where ever the player fits.

Ideally all preferences could be satisfied. Unfortunately, this is difficult due to constraints such as balancing the total number of players on each team. Registering early can significantly contribute to having preferences satisfied. In any case, please encourage players to form additional friendships this summer.

Volunteers are essential to the program. Please consider volunteering to be a coach or team manager. If you intend to be a head coach, an assistant coach, or a team manager, please indicate this when you register your child.

Saturday Morning Baseball

Weather permitting, on Saturdays (May 17, 31, June 7, 14), Minors and 10U/11U traveling participants are invited to Richard Walton Park field 6 to play baseball from 10:30 - 12:00. This activity is entirely optional, but if you're looking for an opportunity to play more baseball, this is it. The intent is for the kids to play with minimal involvement from the adults. This is not a coaching/training activity. Minors rules shall be followed and teams will be assembled by the director.
